Job summary

IAFF Center of Excellence is seeking a Plant Operations Manager to lead on-site maintenance and safety for a firefighter-focused treatment campus. The role requires hands-on leadership, strong technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, and a deep commitment to a compliant, healing environment.

You will supervise daily maintenance, coordinate with the leadership team, and drive preventive maintenance programs while ensuring adherence to healthcare standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years in hands-on facility maintenance or related technical field.
• Experience in construction, general contracting, or facility renovation projects.
• Technical expertise across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or senior living environments preferred.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission standards and survey prep.
• Proficiency with CMMS or web-based work order systems (e.g., TELS, Fiix, Procore).
• Military or first responder experience valued.
• Must reside within reasonable commuting distance for on-site leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, safety, and long-term campus functionality.
• Protect and maintain facility assets through proactive maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, and healthcare regulations (Joint Commission).
• Supervise maintenance operations, repairs, and preventive programs.
• Lead fire and life safety efforts, drills, alarms, and evacuation plans.
• Oversee contractors and vendors; communicate updates to Operations Director.
• Support budget tracking for materials and equipment; participate in training.
