Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer for Healthcare in New York City. The role leads end-to-end deployments of AI models within healthcare organizations, translating clinical workflows into production systems while ensuring PHI, HIPAA, and regulatory safeguards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in designing and delivering end-to-end AI deployments in enterprise environments.
• Strong background in systems architecture, software engineering, and ML/AI engineering.
• Experience with healthcare data, PHI, HIPAA, and regulatory considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own technical solution design and delivery from discovery through to production deployment and handoff.
• Partner with customer engineers and domain experts to define scope, requirements, and measurable outcomes.
• Design and implement production AI applications and agentic systems integrated with enterprise APIs, EHRs, and operational tools.
• Build systems with safeguards for PHI, HIPAA, privacy, security, governance, auditability, and regulatory compliance.
• Define and operationalize evaluations, validation evidence, human-review workflows, escalation paths, and launch criteria.
