Job summary

Northwest Career College in Las Vegas, NV is seeking an instructor to teach Healthcare Administration and Dental Administrative Assistant courses. The ideal candidate has recent industry experience, a passion for mentoring students, and strong skills in both medical and dental administration.

You will deliver lectures, prepare exams, supervise online courses, and support student success through in-person and online tutoring.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years non-overlapping experience in medical administrative field with Healthcare Administration degree or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years non-overlapping experience in medical administrative field with completion of Medical Administrative training program plus a degree.
  • Minimum 2 years non-overlapping experience in Dental Administrative Assistant field with a diploma/degree/certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years non-overlapping experience in Dental Administrative Assistant field without a diploma/degree/certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Teach healthcare medical administrative and dental administrative courses according to the syllabus.
  • Prepare and grade written and practical examinations.
  • Attend faculty meetings, in-service meetings, graduations and other events as required.
  • Dress professionally per faculty dress code.
  • Ensure instruction quality aligns with stated objectives and supports learning outcomes.
  • Maintain classroom and school atmosphere conducive to maximum learning and retention.
  • Instruct students during classroom sessions and administer online courses.
  • Provide tutoring sessions online and in person.
  • Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Administer final exams on the last day of the module.
  • Submit final course grades before the end of the week after end term.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair.

About this position

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated instructor with a strong background in Dental Administrative Assisting to teach Healthcare Administration and Dental Administrative Assistant (DAA) courses. The ideal candidate has recent industry experience, enjoys mentoring future healthcare professionals, and is passionate about preparing students for success in both medical and dental administrative settings.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Teach healthcare medical administrative, and dental administrative assistant courses according to the lesson plan and syllabus as directed by the program supervisor
  • Prepare and grade written and practical examinations
  • Attend faculty meetings, in-service meetings, graduation ceremonies, and other events as required by the College
  • Dress professionally in accordance with faculty dress code
  • Ensure that the quality and quantity of instruction provided in the classroom are consistent with the stated objectives of our school and industry.
  • Ensure that the classroom and the school’s atmosphere are conducive to maximum learning and retention of students.
  • Instructing students during the classroom experience
  • Administrating Online Courses
  • Tutoring sessions online and in-person
  • Prepares reports by collecting and analyzing information
  • Administering final exam (written and/or practical) on the last day of the module
  • Submitting final course grades before the end of the week after the end term
  • Other duties as assigned by the department's program chair

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Recent professional experience in a Dental Administrative Assistant role or within a dental practice.
  • Experience with dental scheduling, insurance verification, billing, ADA claim form , treatment planning, patient communication, and dental practice management software.
  • Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience is preferred but not required.

Required:

REQUIRED: Minimum of three years of non-overlapping experience in the medical administrative field with a Healthcare Administration degree or a degree in a related field, or -

REQUIRED: Minimum of three years non-overlapping experience in the medical administrative field with completion of a Medical Administrative training program (can be diploma-level if it covers the same topic areas as NCC) PLUS a degree (can be unrelated to HCA)

REQUIRED: Minimum of two years of non-overlapping experience in the Dental Administrative Assistant field with a diploma (transcript), degree (transcript), or certificate

REQUIRED: Minimum of three years of non-overlapping experience in the Dental Administrative Assistant field without a diploma (transcript), a degree (transcript), or a certificate

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques

License/Certification

  • CMAA – within 75 days of hire

Education

  • REQUIRED: Undergraduate, Associate’s Degree
