Job summary

Alteva RCM in New York, NY is seeking a Healthcare Accounts Receivable Associate to manage a portfolio of healthcare accounts and perform claim follow-up and collections.

You will work with payer portals, document account notes, and collaborate with internal teams to optimize revenue cycle performance—while meeting daily productivity and quality standards. Ideal candidates have 0-2 years in physician collections and strong Excel/Outlook skills.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in physician collections, A/R follow-up, and denial management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with reporting and data analysis tools preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of accounts under guidance.
• Conduct all aspects of claim follow-up and collections with payer portals.
• Work assigned accounts to resolution, including basic denials and appeals.
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely account notes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize revenue cycle performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of accounts under guidance
• Conduct all aspects of claim follow-up and collections, including insurance calls and utilization of payer portals, ensuring accounts are progressing appropriately towards resolution.
• Work assigned accounts to resolution, including basic denials and appeals
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely account notes
• Partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize revenue cycle performance
• Follow departmental best practices and processes
• Meet daily productivity and quality expectations
• Escalate complex or unresolved issues to Senior Associates or Team Leads

Key Performance Indicators

• Account status maintained in good standing per set workflow requirements
• Maintain or exceed A/R resolution targets (e.g., accounts worked and resolved within established timelines).
• Meet or exceed productivity benchmarks (e.g., accounts worked per day/week based on complexity).
• Demonstrate quality and accuracy standards, minimizing rework and errors in account handling.

Experience & Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
• 0-2 years of experience in physician collections, A/R follow-up, and denial management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with reporting and data analysis tools preferred
• Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Pay Range

$50,000 - $65,000 USD
