Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to support cash management, receivables, reconciliations, and month-end processes within a large healthcare organization. This role focuses on accuracy, collaboration, and compliance to ensure reliable financial reporting.

You will process transactions, assist with audit preparation, and partner with departments to resolve discrepancies, contributing to timely close cycles and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent required
• Experience: 1 year or more in accounting, finance or related field

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile cash-related transactions, deposits, adjustments, and accounts receivable activities in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation to ensure integrity of financial information.
• Perform routine account reconciliations and assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies within the general ledger.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit preparation by gathering required documentation and supporting financial reporting requests.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting procedures, and healthcare finance standards.
• Partner with internal departments, finance teams, and external vendors to resolve questions, research discrepancies, and support efficient financial operations.
