Job description

Position Summary:

Under limited supervision, the HealthCare 3 Licensing Supervisor manages all aspects of the processing and evaluation of applications and registration for the Board of Nursing and the Board of Music Therapy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluates applications to determine that all criteria have been met in accordance with Board laws, rules, and policies.
  2. Provides a list of administratively licensed individuals for Board approval at each Board meeting.
  3. Supervises licensing analysts.
  4. Evaluates licensing analysts as to the quality and quantity of work performed.
  5. Submits weekly licensing status report to the Executive Director.
  6. Creates goals with the Executive Director regarding processing applications, correspondence, and background checks.
  7. Suggests needed changes to improve the effectiveness of the application process.
  8. Revises licensure applications and applicant instructions as needed.
  9. Reviews and seeks Board guidance (as necessary) regarding applicant reentry, preceptorship proposals, and international graduates’ education.
  10. Ensures licensing analysts address call tickets within 24-48 hours.
  11. Ensures licensing analysts notify applicants of deficient items within 7 working days of receiving the application.
  12. Solicits feedback from licensing analysts to identify processing difficulties.
  13. Communicates best practices to licensing staff.
  14. Imports transcript and exam information daily.
  15. Works with other boards of nursing and the NLC Commission to refine and streamline processes to comply with eNLC statutes.
  16. Collaborates with other boards of nursing to implement best practices in Georgia.
  17. Trains and assigns daily workload to temporary staff.
  18. Prepares for GBI audits related to criminal background checks.
  19. Works with IT and PLB staff on the new data system, GOALS, rolling out in September 2025.
  20. Communicates with APRN applicants regarding protocol agreements with the Medical Board, DEA requirements, and practice in Georgia.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing with 2-3 years of nursing experience and 2-3 years of supervisory experience, or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university with a current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse and four (4) years of professional nursing experience, including two (2) years in a lead or managerial role, or one (1) year of experience at a lower-level RN position or equivalent.
