Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to support daily operations on a health unit and foster a warm, welcoming environment for patients, families and visitors. 0.80 FTE, 32 hours per week, with a mix of 8- and 12-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm, 7am-3:30pm, 3pm-11:30pm) and a rotating weekend/holiday schedule.

The role includes answering phones, organizing files, ordering supplies, managing databases, and coordinating admissions, transfers and discharges with the clinical

Qualifications

• No minimum education required
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1 year of experience in a medical or customer service environment or experience of a similar nature required
• 1 year of experience in a medical environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate the day-to-day operations of a unit.
• Answer phones, organize files, order supplies, handle correspondence, manage databases, and provide general support to patients, family members and other staff.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to coordinate all aspects of patient care including admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and perform other clerical duties with attention to detail.
