Job summary

UW Health Hospital in Madison, WI is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support daily unit operations, answer phones, organize files, and manage supplies. The role is 0.60 FTE (24 hours per week) with day/evening shifts, and may include weekends, at University Hospital in Madison.

You will collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges, maintain accurate electronic health records, and provide frontline support to patients and families.

Qualifications

  • No minimum education required.
  • High School Diploma Preferred
  • 1 year of experience in a medical or customer service environment or experience of a similar nature Required
  • 1 year of experience in a medical environment Preferred

Work Schedule

0.60 FTE, 24 hours per week. This is a Day/Evening position. Position has a mix of 8 and 12 hour shifts, 7am-3:30pm, 3pm-11:30pm or 7am-7:30pm. Some weekends required. Hours may vary based on operational needs of department. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to:

  • Manage and facilitate the day-to-day operations of a unit.
  • Answer phones, organize files, order supplies, handle correspondence, manage databases, and provide general support to patients, family members and other staff. You are often considered the backbone of the unit, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Utilize excellent communication and organizational skills to support patient care.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to coordinate all aspects of patient care including patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Use high level of attention to detail to maintain accurate electronic health records and perform other duties of a clerical nature.
