Hillcrest Hospital’s 4 West Tower Complex Medical Care unitprovidesorthopaedicsurgery, neurosurgery, and trauma services to adult and geriatric patientsrequiringmedical, surgical, and telemetry care.Heart conditions, vascular and neurological diseases, and congestive heart failure are just a few of this unit’s clinical specialties, but as a Level 2 trauma unit, caregivers can also gain valuable trauma experience and skills in a fast‑paced environment. By taking this opportunity,you’llbe a part of a collaborative team with endless learning opportunities.As a Health Unit Coordinator on this floor, your daily responsibilities will include performing various administrative and clerical tasks to support the organization and flow of the department. A caregiver in this role works days from 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The schedule alternates between three 8-hour shifts one week and two 8-hour shifts the next.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:


  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.

  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.

  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.

  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.

  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.

  • Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information.

  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble‑shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • One year of experience in a customer service‑related role

  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:


  • College degree

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)


Physical Requirements:


  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.

  • Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.


Personal Protective Equipment:


  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
