JOB SUMMARY
The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a combined role that functions under the supervision of physicians or registered nurses to provide coordination of admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient/family care plans based on patient information. The individual is responsible for accurate processing of information, communicating and collaborating with healthcare team members to facilitate patient care, and providing direct patient care activities as delegated by the registered nurse. They also assist with clerical activities to support unit operations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Minimum required: None. Preferred: Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) diploma from an accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum required: None. Preferred: Experience as a Health Unit Coordinator and CNA.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Minimum required: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the State of Wisconsin and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire. Preferred: BLS certification at the time of hire.
