Valleywise Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to act as a critical liaison among patients, staff, physicians, and departments. The role includes front-desk duties on patient floors and in clinics, with a focus on courteous, professional interaction.

The HUC will support clinical staff, track consults and patient movement, and help ensure smooth unit operations while upholding the health system's values and standards.

Formación

• Prefers a high school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of related work experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Must complete Valleywise Health computer classes.
• NAHUC certification is preferred.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Health Unit Coordinator's (HUC) primary responsibilities are to act as a liaison between the patients and staff. They must possess excellent communication skills to serve as this vital link between physicians, nursing staff, various departments, patients, and visitors. Unit coordinators serve as receptionists on patient floors and in clinic settings, maintaining a pleasant and professional demeanor when dealing with the public.

Core Responsibilities

• Administrative Support: Performs various diversified secretarial duties for the unit, including typing, filing, data input, answering phones, ordering supplies, and preparing special projects.
• Clinical Assistance: Provides support to the clinical staff by tracking consults, stat orders, supplies, and patient movement throughout the healthcare system.
• Organizational Alignment: Assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the organization's vision, values, mission, critical goals, and behavioral standards into daily job performance.

Hourly Pay Rate: $16.87 - $24.88

Qualifications

Education:

• Prefers a high school diploma or GED.

Experience:

• Requires completing an approved health unit coordinator/secretary program or one (1) year of related work experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Specialized Training:

• Must complete Valleywise Health computer classes.

Certification/Licensure:

• NAHUC certification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have a working knowledge of medical terminology and be proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
• Must have the ability to work with culturally diverse people.
• Requires excellent communication and time management skills.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records is helpful for the role.
• Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Bilingual is preferred.
