Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Birthing Center in Madison, WI. This role is part-time (0.7 FTE) with a 28-hour work week and shifts from 3:00 PM–11:30 PM or 11:00 PM–7:30 AM, Monday–Friday with every other weekend/holiday rotation.

The position supports patient care orders, acts as unit receptionist, and coordinates communications among teams, patients, and families while ensuring supplies and equipment service needs are met.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Notary Public may be obtained after hire for day/pm shifts.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, transcribe and assist in implementing orders for patient care across the unit.
• Serve as primary receptionist for the nursing unit and coordinate communication among nursing staff, physicians, and families.
• Maintain supplies for the nursing unit and request service for equipment maintenance as needed.

The primary function of the Health Unit Coordinator - Birthing Center is interpretation, transcription and assistance in the implementation of orders for all aspects of patient care. The Health Unit Coordinator serves as the primary receptionist for the nursing unit and coordinates communication among nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients and families. In addition, the Health Unit Coordinator maintains adequate supplies for the nursing unit and may request service for the maintenance of unit equipment.
