Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of underwriting experience in Level Funded and/or ASO/Stop Loss for groups of 50–5,000 lives.
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting principles and funding mechanisms.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter for a 6-month remote contract assignment. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing RFP submissions, analyzing data for appropriateness and completeness, and assisting in the development and adjustment of rating modules for both new business and renewal groups. This role requires strong technical underwriting knowledge in Level Funded and ASO/Stop Loss products for mid‑to‑large group markets.

Responsibilities

• Enter basic RFP data into underwriting rating modules for new and renewal groups.
• Review RFP submissions for data accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of terms provided by brokers.
• Compare current contract terms with requested RFP specifications and identify discrepancies.
• Evaluate data inputs and recommend adjustments for Fully Insured, Level Funded, or ASO/Stop Loss rate development.
• Analyze large claim details and determine appropriate adjustments to projections or stop‑loss calculations.
• Assess the use of lasers and variable discounts such as network access fees to optimize ASO pricing.
• Determine appropriate contract types (e.g., 24/12, 12/12, 12/24) for spec/agg arrangements.
• Identify and prioritize high‑value group opportunities while managing underwriting discretion effectively.
• Review quote recommendations with management and make revisions as necessary.
• Document contingencies and collaborate with other underwriters for quote submission.
• Assist in enhancing and rebuilding the ASO/Stop Loss underwriting module after gaining familiarity with internal tools.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years of underwriting experience in Level Funded and/or ASO/Stop Loss for groups of 50–5,000 lives.
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting principles and funding mechanisms.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
