• Assist in completing test trays, including testing temperature and taste.
• May assist in conducting meal rounds and patient satisfaction surveys.
• Collaborate with Dietitians regarding Food/Drug Interactions and notify clinical staff of meal service issues.
• Print, prepare, and review meal tickets; communicate patient concerns to registered dietitian or supervisors.
• May perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the occupation.

This position is in the Nutrition and Food Service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia, SC. The Health Technician (Dietetic) provides administrative and customer service support for the hospital food service program.

Key Responsibilities

Major duties and responsibilities include: - Handles patient meal service orders, and enters meal orders into Dietetics Software system - Review nutrition-related labs and discuss with RON - Collect information from patient and or caretakers Including intake history, including allergies, likes and dislikes ,diet, preferences and update electronic record.

- Assist in completing test trays including testing temperature and taste - May assist in conducting meal rounds - Conduct patient satisfaction surveys - Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members - Collaborates with Dietitians regarding Food/Drug Interactions, notifying clinical staff of potential issues with meal service and delivery - Prints, prepares, and reviews meal tickets -Communicates patient concerns with registered dietitian or supervisors - May perform other duties as assigned as appropriate for the grade and assignment and which are within the scope of the occupation.

DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received. Work Schedule: Sunday- Saturday Rotating shifts 5:30am-2pm/10:30am-7pm to include weekends and holidays.
