Job summary

Muhlenberg School District is seeking a Nurse Assistant to support the school health program. You will assist the school nurse in maintaining the health room, handling records, and performing basic health-related clerical tasks.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, providing first aid, monitoring medications, and contacting parents when needed. You will cover for the nurse during absences and participate in kindergarten registration as required.

Qualifications

• LPN or RN license is required.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates are required.
• Experience working with children is preferred.

III. General Scope of Position

To assist the school nurse in the efficient operation and coverage of the school health program in the Buildings.

IV. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Helps maintain the health room under the direction of the school nurse.
• Maintains records and performs clerical work.
• Assists with examinations and screenings.
• Provides for the first aid care of students and staff.
• Monitors the distribution of medications as directed by the school nurse.
• Keep all matters pertaining to school health with confidentiality.
• Completes preliminary accident reports.
• Contacts parents/guardians when students are ill or injured.
• Provides coverage for the school nurse when she is absent from the building for meetings in the district.
• Assists with Kindergarten registration.
• Responds to supervisory recommendations in a prompt and positive manner.
• Performs other job-related duties or temporary assignments as designated by the principals.

V. Required Qualifications And Experience

• Educational: LPN or RN License Required

Current First Aid and CPR Certificates

Experience Working With Children Preferred.

• Physical: Ability to move from building to building providing services

Possession of valid driver's license and availability of vehicle

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

VI. Terms of Employment

• 180 day work schedule in conjunction with the student calendar year.
• Hourly wage based on the Nursing Assistant payment schedule.
