Job summary

Dyno Nobel, Inc. in Cheyenne, WY seeks a Health and Safety Technician to uphold high safety standards among plant personnel and contractors. You will help improve processes, promote a safety-first culture, and ensure safe operations.

Responsibilities include inspections, training, equipment checks, signage, and creating/maintaining LO/LOA procedures and safety records. A background in HSE or enrollment in related programs is valued.

Qualifications

• Prior HSE experience or current student in a related program.
• Familiarity with local and federal HSE regulations preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing/industrial environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct critical safety inspections and support emergency preparedness.
• Developing procedures and delivering training to keep employees and contractors safe.
• Inspect critical safety equipment (fire extinguishers, showers, eyewash, ladders, fall protection).
• Maintain site safety signage and ensure proper labeling of tanks, vessels, and equipment.
• Assist with turnaround planning for safe and efficient operations.
• Coordinate annual testing and recertification for OSHA-required topics.
• Develop and update safety documents (LO/LOA, SOPs, SSPs).
• Support process safety activities (LOPA, PHA, MOC, SDS updates).
• Maintain organized safety records for audits and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

As a Health and Safety Technician, you'll work alongside plant personnel, contractors, and the Health & Safety team to maintain high safety standards, improve processes, and promote a culture where everyone goes home safe. In this hands-on role, you'll help protect our people, strengthen our safety culture, and ensure our facility operates safely and responsibly. Other duties include:

• Conduct critical safety inspections and support emergency preparedness
• Developing procedures and delivering training playing an important role in keeping our employees, contractors, and operations safe.
• Conduct routine inspections of critical safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, escape packs, emergency showers, eyewash stations, ladders, tools, fall protection equipment, fire hydrants, fire hose cabinets, and fire engines
• Maintain site safety signage and ensure appropriate HSE labeling of tanks, vessels, and other equipment.
• Assist with turnaround planning and execution to help ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Coordinate annual testing and recertification for applicable OSHA-required training topics.
• Develop, review, and update safety documentation, including Lockout/Isolation (LOA) procedures, SWPs, SSPs, and other site-specific documents.
• Support process safety activities, including Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) updates.
• Maintain organized safety records and documentation to support audits, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute ideas and practical solutions that help strengthen the plant's overall HSE performance.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience in a Health and Safety role and / or a recent graduate or student currently enrolled in a Health and Safety or similar program
• Knowledge of local and federal regulatory rules surrounding HSE preferred
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and a commitment to accurate documentation, thorough inspections, and follow-through.
• Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Program (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card
• Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
