Job summary

Henderson Products, Inc. seeks an EHS Leader to develop and maintain safety initiatives, policies, and culture across the site. You will lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and OSHA/EPA compliance programs to protect employees and the environment.

Expect to design ergonomic work processes, manage training, and collaborate with HR and operations to sustain a safe, compliant workplace at our Iowa facility. A strong background in industrial safety is required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, environmental laws, and employee safety issues.
  • Experience with manufacturing software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong organizational, detail, and follow-up skills.
  • Leadership: ability to lead people and achieve results through others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player.
  • 3+ years experience in Safety, environmental compliance, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety and health standards per OSHA/EPA/NFPA guidance.
  • Schedule and conduct training sessions on General Safety, Supervisor Safety, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, and Respiratory Protection.
  • Support onboarding of new hires with safety-related training.
  • Lead safety incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Establish and manage ergonomic, injury case management and return-to-work programs.
  • Maintain safety program documentation, logs, and reports.
  • Coordinate with Operations and HR to implement risk controls and compliance.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

The EHS Leader is responsible for developing and maintaining Henderson Products safety initiatives, polices and culture. Developing safe working conditions for all Henderson Products employees through shop floor presence, focused on ergonomic assessments and risk analysis. This position is responsible for Henderson’s overall employee safety, environmental compliance and health program with a concentration on leading implementation of risk reduction projects. Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and implement safety and health standards, criteria and guidelines, such as those issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA Health, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and all other applicable regulations.
  • Schedule and conduct training sessions based upon job specific requirements. Training may include: General Safety Awareness, Supervisor Safety Training, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Respiratory Protection, and other job-specific training.
  • Support onboarding of new hires with all Safety related training including job specific safety training.
  • Develop a culture that identifies health and safety opportunities and documents those for trends and predictive analysis
  • Lead safety incident investigation teams to determine root cause, corrective, and preventive actions
  • Establish and manage ergonomic, injury case management and return to work programs
  • Train and assist personnel on the safety programs including, but not limited to, development of job hazard analysis, job safety, incident investigation, accident prevention plans, permit-to-work process.
  • Interface with functional first line management and supervision, ensuring risk management methodologies are being incorporated into all facets of operation.
  • Complete Business Unit / IDC Location visits / inspections to ensure compliance with Henderson safety programs.
  • Review and maintain the site preparedness and emergency plans and procedures
  • Oversee hazardous chemicals and waste storage area, waste reduction monitoring and ensure regulatory agency compliance, labeling, proper disposal and documentation
  • Responsible for risk assessment and analysis including:
    • Accountable for completing permit applications and work with environmental and safety groups and consultants to ensure compliance in permit reporting requirements
    • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and corrective actions are followed through accordingly.
    • Ensure all permits, reporting requirements and audits are met promptly for both environmental and safety compliance
    • Conduct regular site inspections in coordination with Operations
  • Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentations
  • Partner with HR to ensure filing systems regarding employee training are maintained and any Worker's Compensation related issues
  • Lead, investigate, review, compile timely and accurate reports and follow through all workplace accidents and incidents such as OSHA incidents
  • Assist in emergency response, safety response, manage and administer first aid, including AED
  • Remain updated of environmental and safety regulations changes that affect the Company
  • Develop the sustainability program and ensure documentation kept up to date
  • Routine and documented inspection of potential risk tools, job aides and equipment

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, environmental laws, and employee safety and health issues
  • Technological skills required with knowledge of operation’s manufacturing software, as well as Microsoft products, including Excel, Power Point and Word.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Safety, Business, or other relative area preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Safety, employee relations, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, or equivalent
