Job summary

Valeo is seeking a HSE Trainee/Apprentice/VIE for a 12‑month program. The role runs 32–40 hours per week, aligning with June–August 2027 availability.

Trainees will identify safety requirements, verify equipment compliance and support risk analyses on a global mobility platform. The position emphasizes hands‑on procedure development, site inspections, and updates to safety documentation, with a focus on Environmental, Health and Safety operations.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or occupational safety related field OR May 2026 graduate.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week from June 2027 - August 2027.
• Completion of classes in equipment lockout/tagout, chemical safety, and OSHA/EPA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, establish and implement all Valeo Group requirements.
• Ensure safety equipment compliance with requirements.
• Carry out risk analysis and monitor regulatory surveys.
• Help establish site Health, Safety, Security and Environment procedures and oversee their application.
• Conduct inspections and internal audits; recommend actions and assign responsibilities.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring actions for non-compliance revealed by audits, inspections or external audits.

This position is a 1 year (12 month), 32-40 hours per week position

What You Will Do

• You will ensure that all requirements of Valeo Group are identified, established and implemented
• You will check that safety and security equipment are in compliance with requirements
• You will carry out risk analysis and monitor regulatory survey
• You will help establish the site “Health, Safety, Security and Environment” operation procedures and oversee their application
• You will carry out inspections and internal audits, make recommendations and specify corresponding actions as well as the responsibility for implementing it
• You will assist in implementing and monitoring action relating to the handling of any non-compliance revealed by the inspections, internal audits and external audits, taking the necessary investments into account.
• You will update and complete Safety Data sheets, plus ergonomic and PPE assessments
• You will review and update Safety and Environmental work instructions

What You Should Have

• You should be a current student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or occupational safety related field (i.e. Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or similar) OR be an May 2026 graduate of one of these types of programs
• You should have the ability to work 40 hours per week from June 2027 - August 2027
• You preferably have completed classes in equipment lockout/tagout, chemical safety, and OSHA/EPA

Hourly Rate for this role:

Freshman: $17.00

Sophomore: $18.00

Junior: $19.50

Senior: $20.50

Graduate: $27.16
