Job Summary

A leading manufacturing company is seeking an experienced HSE – Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator to support health, safety, and environmental compliance programs at a large-scale industrial manufacturing facility in Georgia.

This position will play an important role in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting workplace safety initiatives, managing environmental programs, conducting inspections and audits, and coordinating corrective actions. The HSE Coordinator will work closely with plant leadership, operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, vendors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working both independently and in an active manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day health, safety, and environmental compliance activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Maintain compliance with applicable EPA, Georgia EPD, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Support environmental permitting, renewals, modifications, documentation, and ongoing compliance activities.
• Support air quality and air permitting programs, including monitoring, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting.
• Manage the facility’s Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), inspections, documentation, and compliance activities.
• Support wastewater and NPDES permit compliance, monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
• Coordinate hazardous waste management activities in accordance with RCRA requirements.
• Support solid waste, recycling, waste minimization, and sustainability initiatives.
• Maintain chemical compliance programs, including EPCRA and Tier II reporting requirements.
• Support environmental requirements associated with biosolids and land application activities.
• Conduct routine HSE inspections, environmental audits, and compliance assessments to identify potential risks or regulatory gaps.
• Investigate HSE and environmental concerns and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
• Track corrective actions resulting from inspections, audits, incidents, or compliance findings through completion.
• Monitor regulatory developments and communicate applicable changes and potential compliance impacts to plant leadership.
• Prepare, review, and submit required environmental and compliance reports accurately and within established deadlines.
• Maintain organized HSE records, permits, inspection reports, monitoring data, training documentation, and regulatory correspondence.
• Monitor environmental control equipment and coordinate maintenance, repairs, upgrades, or capital improvements as necessary.
• Support workplace safety programs, inspections, incident investigations, and other HSE initiatives.
• Develop and deliver HSE and environmental compliance training for employees, supervisors, and other applicable personnel.
• Communicate professionally with regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
• Promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
• Support pollution prevention, waste reduction, sustainability, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with additional HSE programs and projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in health and safety, environmental compliance, HSE, EHS, or a related function within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
• Working knowledge of federal and state health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and Georgia EPD requirements.
• Knowledge of RCRA, NPDES, SWPPP, air permitting, hazardous waste management, EPCRA, and Tier II reporting.
• Experience maintaining environmental permits, compliance documentation, inspection records, and regulatory reports.
• Experience conducting HSE inspections, environmental audits, or compliance assessments.
• Ability to identify safety and environmental deficiencies and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
• Strong organizational, planning, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operations, engineering, maintenance, leadership, contractors, and other cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple HSE programs, priorities, and regulatory deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to respond appropriately to time-sensitive safety, environmental, or compliance concerns.

This is a hands-on HSE position within an active industrial manufacturing facility and is not exclusively office-based. The HSE Coordinator will regularly spend time in production areas, utilities, waste management areas, outdoor locations, and other operational areas throughout the facility.

The role requires the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to seasonal weather conditions, including Georgia heat and humidity. The position may also involve exposure to industrial noise, manufacturing equipment, active production processes, and other conditions typical of a large-scale manufacturing environment.
