Job summary

TXM INC is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator for the Joliet, IL distribution facility. You will oversee onsite safety, ensure regulatory compliance, minimize risk, and promote a safety culture across maintenance operations.

You will implement and maintain the OHS system in line with ISO 45001:2018 and OSHA standards. The role requires a degree in occupational safety or related field, 3 years in industrial settings, knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, audit experience, and ability to lead training,

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Safety or related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and NFPA standards.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and OSHA compliance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety briefings and toolbox talks for maintenance teams.
  • Implement and maintain ISO 45001:2018 OHSMS at site level.
  • Maintain records per OSHA 29 CFR 1904 and HIPAA (if applicable).
  • Manage workers' comp and return-to-work programs at site level.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and drive corrective actions.

TXM are recruiting on behalf of a leading Automation and intralogistics provider, to join a distribution facility in the Joliet, ILarea. As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will oversee the the safety onsite, ensuring compliance with regulations, minimizing risk and fostering a culture of safety across all maintenance operations. You will also be responsible for implementing, managing and improving the OHS system onsite in line with ISO 45001:2018 and OSHA standards.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead safety briefings and toolbox talks for the maintenance team and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Implement and maintain the ISO 45001:2018-compliant OHS Management System at the site level.
  • Responsible for maintaining records in accordance with OSHA 29CFR 1904 and HIPA.
  • Manage worker’s comp and the return-to-work program at site level.
    Recommend, document, and monitor safety equipment and training programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of maintenance operations, equipment, and work areas.
  • Develop and maintain audit schedules, checklists, and documentation aligned with OSHA, ISO 45001, and company standards.
  • Support internal audits and external audits related to ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Ensure non-conformance tracking, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and equipment failures.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and training to ensure compliance with all legal requirements pertaining to OHS and ISO 45001.
  • Provide training programs for all OH&S topics, including actions and process(es) needed to determine and address risks and opportunities to the extent necessary to have confidence that they are carried out as planned.
  • Track and ensure completion of required certifications and refresher courses.
  • Support onboarding of new maintenance staff and visitors with safety induction.
  • Obtain Competent Person status in key safety areas such as Fall Protection, PIT, MEWP, WAVe, and others as needed.
Your Experience
  • Degree in Occupational Safety or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a safety role within an industrial, logistics, or warehouse environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and maintenance safety protocols.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry, and reporting tools
  • Experienced in safety management software and digital documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and rapport building.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA 501, OSHA 511) is highly desirable.
  • Must have/obtain OSHA 30 General Industry.
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor Certification – preferred/obtain
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification – a plus
