The Health & Safety (H&S) Coordinator is responsible for executing H&S duties professionally. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role collaborates closely with plant supervisors and managers.

This position oversees recruiting and onboarding processes related to health and safety. The Coordinator maintains, administers, and implements company-wide occupational safety programs, ISO management, and serves as the divisional occupational safety coordinator. The role involves planning, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental safety programs. There are no direct reports.

Job Duties
  • Conduct safety orientation, training, site inspections, and reporting.
  • Stay updated on amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations; recommend their implementation.
  • Perform safety compliance inspections, hazard analyses, and prepare reports with recommendations.
  • Monitor adherence to safety protocols by employees and subcontractors.
  • Develop and deliver training on WHMIS, Fall Protection, PPE, CPR/First Aid, and industry-specific issues.
  • Ensure timely reporting of accidents/injuries to the Corporate Office.
  • Identify hazards, conduct inspections, and advise on compliance regulations.
  • Influence management and employees on occupational safety issues.
  • Train workgroups and modify programs to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate safety inspections, investigations, and activities across departments.
  • Analyze accident data to improve safety programs.
  • Research safety methods and equipment to minimize hazards.
  • Improve tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Lead or participate in safety teams and special task forces.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced safety personnel.
  • Train managers and staff on safety issues.
Requirements
  • B.S./B.A. in a related field or two years of safety experience in manufacturing.
  • Skills in mathematics, organization, and communication.
  • Ability to prioritize, show initiative, and work independently.
  • Motivated, service-oriented, detail-focused individual.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects.
  • Safety certification training is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of OHSA regulations and workers’ compensation laws.
  • Certification in occupational safety is preferred.
