Job summary

Nordic PCL Construction, Inc. in Hawaii seeks a Health, Safety, and Environment Coordinator to support HSE programs across Honolulu, Kailua-Kona, and Lihue.

You will help implement safety plans, conduct training, and provide data-driven insights to protect teams working on local projects. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with OH&S regulations, coordinating hazard assessments, and fostering a culture of safety while supporting project teams in daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Towards a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in OH&S.
  • Ability to learn OH&S and environmental legislation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to develop stakeholder relationships and resolve conflicts.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist with HSE plans and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct project-specific HSE training.
  • Provide HSE information and trend analysis to project teams.
  • Develop hazard identification tools and action plans.
  • Perform project HSE inspections and verify corrective actions.
  • Support emergency response plan implementation and security.
  • Review trade documentation for safety compliance.
  • Verify equipment and tool inspections are documented.
  • Notify stakeholders of incidents and assist investigations.
  • Build positive relationships and support other duties as required.

Here’s how an HSE Coordinator contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and assists with implementation of the project HSE Plan, environmental plan, regulatory requirements, and any other safe work practices.
  • Identifies and assists in conducting project‑specific HSE training.
  • Provides project team with project‑specific HSE information and trends and assists to create action plans.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of hazard identification tools.
  • Conducts project HSE inspections and verifies that corrective actions have been implemented.
  • Supports project teams with the implementation of the emergency response plan and monitors project security requirements.
  • Gathers, reviews, and provides input on trade documentation and monitors trade contractor safety compliance.
  • Verifies that equipment and tool inspections are being conducted and documented as per requirements.
  • Notifies appropriate stakeholders of any incident and supports the investigation.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Working toward Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Working toward safety designation.
  • 1 year of experience in a related industry.
  • Ability to learn applicable OH&S, environmental legislation and HSE processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflicts with craft workers.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve.
  • Ability to learn construction processes and terminology.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.

The estimated salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $85,000, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
