Job summary

PCL Construction, Inc. within Civil West, is seeking an HSE Supervisor to implement and support project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices on construction sites in the Phoenix area. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, has about 5 years in a health and safety role, and can communicate effectively with stakeholders.

U.S. work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
  • Conflict-resolution skills with the ability to problem-solve.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and adapting to new technology.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project-specific HSE training.
  • Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects.
  • Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification.
  • Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the effectiveness of safety plans.
  • Develops and evaluates the project emergency response plan and environmental plan.
  • Monitors and audits trade contractor HSE performance.
  • Participates in on-site investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintains positive stakeholder relationships and mentors HSE staff.

Responsibilities
  • Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.
  • Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training.

  • Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset.
  • Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
  • Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
