Job summary

Humana, Inc. is seeking a Director of Public Affairs & Strategy to lead cross-functional initiatives at the intersection of business strategy, healthcare policy, and advocacy.

This role partners with senior leaders to frame issues, shape policy positions, and build coordinated strategies aligned with enterprise priorities. The ideal candidate is strategic, organized, and able to translate complex business and policy issues into clear recommendations and disciplined execution.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, healthcare strategy, enterprise transformation, public affairs strategy, or similar high-performance environment.
• Deep knowledge of the U.S. healthcare industry, preferably payer/provider experience.
• Proven ability to independently structure ambiguous problems, lead complex cross-functional work, synthesize findings, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of complex workstreams and drive execution with limited direction.
• Exceptional project leadership, executive communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders without formal authority.
• High emotional intelligence to build trust and navigate disagreement across perspectives.
• Sound judgment, curiosity, attention to detail, and comfort in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex workstreams end to end: define scope, milestones, decisions, and drive execution.
• Advise senior leaders: frame issues, surface tradeoffs, synthesize perspectives, translate into recommendations.
• Develop strategies to advance enterprise priorities by connecting policy developments to business objectives.
• Drive analysis: lead research, quantitative/qualitative analysis, scenario planning.
• Create executive-ready deliverables: presentations, briefings, memos, decision materials.
• Lead through influence: build trust across functions and manage external partners.
