Job summary

Washington State Health Care Authority seeks a Director of Government Affairs to lead the Agency’s legislative and government affairs strategy. You will advise executive leadership on state and federal health policy, evaluate legislation, develop proposals, and represent the Agency with legislators, the Governor’s Office, and other partners.

• Navigate government relations and health policy with legislators and stakeholders.
• Understand legislative processes and administrative functions.
• Expertise in health care policy and legislative proposals.
• Advise executives on policy and legislative issues.
• Communicate effectively with agency leadership, policymakers, and diverse stakeholders.
• Assess situations and provide independent judgment on policy options.
• Draft bills, amendments and develop health care policy.

Responsibilities

• Lead legislative and government affairs strategy, priorities, processes, and communications.
• Advise the Agency Director and executive leadership on policy and health policy issues.
• Evaluate state and federal legislation to identify impacts and opportunities.
• Develop legislative and health policy proposals, strategies, bill language, and amendments.
• Represent the Agency with legislators, Governor’s Office, agencies, and external partners.
• Direct legislative communications and deliverables, including testimony and reports.
• Coordinate response to federal rules and policy proposals with leadership and experts.
• Lead the Legislative Affairs and Analysis team, setting priorities and ensuring needed analysis.
