Job summary

UMass Chan Medical School is seeking a Policy Analyst to support policy analysis, writing and research on health care and human services topics.

Under supervision, you will collect and analyze data from diverse sources, prepare clear summaries, charts and presentations, and help meet project milestones. You will work independently, learn quickly, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to influence policy decisions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
• One year of related work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, write, and research in a relevant discipline.
• Ability to meet project milestones and deadlines.
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative policy research and analytical skills.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills as demonstrated in writing samples.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Ability to learn new issues quickly and work independently.
• Demonstrated expertise with spreadsheets, databases, word processing and presentation tools.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Perform policy and data analyses of health care and human services topics, synthesizing information from multiple sources.
• Prepare written summaries, reports, charts, graphs, and presentations for internal and external distribution.
• Obtain data from diverse sources including federal/state agencies, insurers, providers, and journals.
• Assess data quality, identify missing data or inconsistencies, and help improve data quality.
• Organize data using databases and spreadsheets and structure qualitative information for policy analysis.
• Identify data sources relevant to analytic projects in health care and human services.
• Perform other duties as required.
