Position: Health Office Aide

Work Year: 190 Days

Reports to: Principal/Supervisor

Position Summary:

Provides clerical support for health office and administers first aid to students. Defers care to school nurses when situations arise that are outside of his/her scope of responsibility.

Essential Functions

• Provides clerical office support including filing, phones, and data entry.
• Administers first aid to injured students to enhance the comfort and safety of injured or ill students (after in-district training).
• Maintains a clean, organized health office.
• Serves as Spanish to English interpreter/translator.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, students, and medical professionals
• Ability to work within guidelines established by District policies and/or grants
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school.

Qualifications:

• State of Illinois Registered professional nurse, designated as R.N. or ISBE PEL with School Nurse endorsement or CNA license or Paraprofessional License
• Bilingual in Spanish with the ability to speak, read, write, and translate between Spanish and English, required.
• Fluency in Spanish required
