Job summary

Dist156 is seeking a Nurse to join the Student Services team in McHenry, IL. The role reports to the Assistant Principal of Student Services and operates on a 180-day calendar with 8-hour days, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, including a 15-minute paid break.

The nurse will manage student health records, vaccinations and screenings, med storage/dispensing, and emergency care until help arrives. Benefits include medical coverage and paid leave; IMRF participation is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student health records
• Facilitate student health assessments (hearing and vision)
• Complete medical reviews/ health histories
• Accurately store and dispense medication
• Consult with teachers, parents, and team members
• Write and maintain health plans and medical 504's
• Notify parents and administrators of illness or injury
• Lead professional development for staff ( Diabetes Training )
• Submit timely reports to health agencies and state
• Provide emergency care until EMS arrival under supervision

Terms of Employment:

Responsible to the Assistant Principal of Student Services

Calendar: 180 days + 6 float days as assigned (prorated based upon start date)

Daily Schedule: M-F, 7:00 am -3:30 pm

Hours Per Day: 8 hours per day which includes a 15-minute paid break

Unpaid meal break: 30-minute

• Hourly Rate: $31.00

Benefits: Eligible for medical benefits and paid leave. IMRF participation is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Responsibilities / Duties:

• Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices
• Maintain student health records
• Facilitate student health assessment/screenings (hearing and vision)
• Complete medical reviews/ health histories
• Accurately storeand dispense medication
• Consultwith teachers, parents, and team members
• Write and maintain health plans and medical 504's
• Notify parents and building administrators regarding students who are severely ill or injured
• Lead professional development training to all staff as assigned (ie. Diabetes Training)
• Submit accurate and timely reports as required by various health agencies and the state
• Assume authority to provide emergency care for ill and injured students on school premises until emergency personnel arrive, under the supervision of the building administration
• Other relevant duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed).
• Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
• Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting and as needed in noisy and crowded environments.
• Must possess the physical strength to occasionally assist in lifting students.
• Must be able to bend and perform CPR as needed.
