Job summary

Wilkes Community College is seeking a Program Coordinator of Health Occupations (12-month position) to lead and coordinate health occupations programs, including Nursing Assistant I and related courses, across the college service area. The role emphasizes program quality, regulatory compliance, and strong partnerships with clinical sites.

The coordinator will recruit and supervise adjunct instructors, ensure teaching meets NC system requirements, and nurture collaborations with healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license and licensed to practice in North Carolina.
• At least two years (4000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States.
• At least one year (2000 hours) of RN experience in long-term care facilities in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Health Occupations continuing education programs across the service area.
• Coordinate program operations using a One College approach across campuses.
• Develop short- and long-range plans aligning with priorities and workforce needs.
• Ensure programs stay current with industry standards and regulations.
• Evaluate program effectiveness via data, student outcomes, employer feedback, enrollment trends.
• Maintain compliance with policies, state regulations, accrediting agencies, and healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with divisions and external partners for seamless program delivery.
• Recruit, hire, and evaluate adjunct instructors.
• Provide instructional leadership and ensure course quality.
• Teach Nursing Assistant I courses as assigned per NC system requirements.
• Maintain instructor eligibility and required certifications.
• Deliver high-quality instructional experiences and keep records.
• Maintain clinical partnerships and contracts.
• Monitor compliance with clinical requirements.

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Registered Nurse license (NC)

RN experience (2+ years) in the United States

RN long-term care experience (1+ year) in the United States
