Job summary

The role serves as a technical resource to districts and external stakeholders, develops training and policy guidance, assists with program administration, regulatory oversight, and special projects, with limited travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with Architecture/Engineering coursework or equivalent plus 5 years relevant experience.
• Two years of relevant professional experience beyond education requirements.
• Working knowledge of ICC building codes.
• Ability to read building plans.
• Ability to read and interpret legislation, rules and building codes.
• Ability to research building standards and specifications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and processes health/life safety documents, including 10-year safety surveys and amendments.
• Consults with architects and district administrators as necessary.
• Develops training materials and conducts presentations on health/life safety and related topics.
• Reviews and manages school maintenance, energy efficiency, and construction grant programs.
• Provides technical assistance to external stakeholders regarding health/life safety codes.
• Maintains and updates program web pages for health/life safety and construction programs.
• Develops and reviews legislation and proposes administrative code updates with stakeholders.
• Verifies building conditions in the facility condemnation process.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
