Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank is seeking a Principal Consultant to support Educator Preparation and Licensure initiatives in Illinois. The role collaborates with EPPS across the state to develop preparation programs, align standards, and assist licensure inquiries, while advancing IEPP and literacy/numeracy integration.

The candidate will work within a small team and autonomously on projects, overseeing grants and contracts, guiding data-driven decisions, and representing ISBE at meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
• Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) working in the Illinois PK-12 public schools and/or a 4-year college or university's Department of Education.
• Ability to use various forms of technology for work.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Aptitude to learn new processes and procedures quickly.
• Ability to use computer.

Responsibilities

• Leads and serves as a team member for various department projects and initiatives related to educator preparation, licensure, and educator recruitment and retention.
• Provides quality project management, plans and leads meetings, and analyzes data to make informed decisions on work products.
• Oversees department grants and contracts, including awarding, monitoring, reporting, and communicating with grantees and contractors.
• Provides exemplary service and technical assistance to stakeholders via written, telephone, electronic, and personal communication.
• Conducts audits, develops and delivers trainings, creates/reviews/edits documents, and represents the Agency and department at events and meetings.
• Analyzes applications for licenses, endorsements, and approvals based upon evidence submitted.
• Authorizes issuance or notifies applicant of specific deficiencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
