Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Health Information Scanning and Analysis Specialist to prepare and scan health information documentation and resolve deficiencies in medical recordkeeping. This on-site, part-time role supports Health Information Management and requires attention to detail and basic computing skills.

The position is open to entry-level applicants, with preferred qualifications including an Associate’s degree, medical terminology training, and a Notary Public commission.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent is required.
• Familiarity with desktop computing tools and software is required.
• Notary Public commission is preferred.
• An Associate’s degree is preferred.
• Training or education in Medical Terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares health information documents for scanning by adding identification/indexing labels and identifying and resolving disparities.
• Scans prepared documents into business system software.
• Indexes scanned documents in the business system according to documented criteria.
• Matches scanned orders to records in the EMR tool.
• Reviews electronic medical records deficiencies and assigns to clinical staff for resolution.
• Evaluates incoming and scanned documents for quality and accuracy, coordinating with team and clinical staff to correct deficiencies.
• Completes legal documentation as assigned and facilitates notarization as appropriate.
• Assists with maintaining inventory of departmental consumable supplies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares health information documents for scanning by adding identification/indexing labels and identifying and resolving disparities.
• Scans prepared documents into business system software.
• Indexes scanned documents in the business system according to documented criteria. Matches scanned orders to records in the electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool.
• Review electronic medical records deficiencies and assign to clinical staff for resolution.
• Evaluates incoming and scanned documents to ensure quality, such as checking that all details are included, legible, and matched appropriately. Collaborates with team members and clinical staff as needed to correct deficiencies.
• Completes legal documentation as assigned, gathering signatures and requisite information as appropriate. Notarizes or facilitates notarization as appropriate.
• Assists with maintaining inventory of departmental consumable supplies.
