Job summary

Great Plains Tribal Health is seeking a Medical Records Technician for the Oyáte Health Center. This role supports the Health Information Management department by managing patient records and ensuring accurate EHR data.

Responsibilities include HIPAA/HITECH compliance, ROI processing, RPMS logging, and documenting scans. The candidate should have related experience and strong computer/EHR skills while maintaining reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of medical records and data entry experience.
• Preferred one year of medical office support experience.
• Demonstrated computer skills and experience working with electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Complies with HIPAA and HITECH privacy and security regulations.
• Verifies and maintains accurate patient EHRs and coordinates EHR number assignment.
• Inactivates records of deceased patients per policy.
• Receives and processes ROI requests from patients and authorized entities.
• Logs ROI requests in RPMS and scans documents into EHR.
• Communicates with internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Performs duties accurately, timely, and in compliance with standards.
