Job summary

Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation seeks a seasoned Health Information Management Services leader to supervise the HIMS department and act as Privacy Officer. You will drive goals, budgets, and policy alignment with regulations, while ensuring high standards in documentation and compliance.

The role requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS certification, CHPS within one year, and strong leadership to coach staff and coordinate privacy and security efforts across the organization.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in business, finance, or a related field required.
• Current certification as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS required.
• Certification as CPC, CDEO, or CDEI preferred.
• CHPS certification required at hire or obtained within one year.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day operations of the HIMS department and staff.
• Develops departmental goals, budgets, policies, and procedures.
• Serves as the organization's Privacy Officer.
• Collaborates with senior leadership to set goals and execute plans in line with standards.
• Maintains knowledge of privacy laws (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, HITECH) and compliance.
• Coordinates privacy-related complaints and liaises with legal counsel when needed.
• Reviews information security plans with the Security Officer to align privacy and security.
• Coordinates release of protected health information in accordance with policies.
