Job Description: Health Information Operations Supervisor

Role Overview

The Health Information Operations Supervisor is responsible for client/customer service and serves as a knowledge expert for the HIS staff. The role involves front-line people management, training, ensuring process compliance, and supporting leadership in planning and implementing departmental or regional projects. The supervisor maintains workflow and productivity, handles escalated situations, and fosters a positive work environment. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the hiring process, engaging with clients, and staff development across multiple sites.

This is a hybrid position requiring weekly onsite work in Fairfax, VA or Falls Church, VA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, train, and motivate a growing team.
  • Collaborate with leadership on operational issues and opportunities.
  • Lead audit teams responding to payor requests.
  • Review data and provide solutions to clients and leadership.
  • Suggest process improvements and provide feedback.
  • Manage requests from the Risk Management Team.
  • Plan for fluctuating needs at client locations.
  • Oversee escalation calls from call centers.
  • Participate in project teams and initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with location and client management.
Qualifications
  • Leadership philosophy focused on service.
  • Ability to support clients and team remotely and onsite.
  • 1-2 years of health information experience.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards.
  • Effective presentation skills via video or in person.
  • Solution-oriented and forward-thinking.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in medical records.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and MS Office.
Preferred Skills
  • EMR experience with EPIC or Cerner.
  • Experience with production or metrics-based work.
  • Team building and career development experience.
