TEKsystems is seeking Health Information Management (HIM) Support Specialists for a contract onsite role in Reading, PA. The position focuses on assisting patients and providers with medical record requests and supporting a major EMR transition initiative.

Responsibilities include handling inbound calls, verifying information, obtaining authorizations, and navigating EMR/EHR systems while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Overview:

Our client, a large healthcare organization, is seeking Health Information Management (HIM) Support Specialists to join their team. This role is ideal for individuals with strong customer service skills who enjoy helping patients while supporting critical medical records and Health Information Management operations. The position involves assisting patients and healthcare providers with medical record requests, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting a major electronic medical record (EMR) transition initiative.

Key Responsibilities

• Professionally answer inbound calls and assist patients, providers, and other requestors with Health Information Management inquiries.




• Retrieve and respond to voicemail messages in a timely manner.




• Verify patient identity and demographic information to ensure accuracy and compliance.




• Obtain verbal authorizations in accordance with established procedures and HIPAA guidelines.




• Navigate electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems to locate and manage patient information.




• Support Release of Information (ROI) requests and related workflows.




• Assist with radiology image-sharing requests.




• Accurately document calls, authorizations, records requests, and completed work activities.




• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Reading, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
