Mercy Health Information Technician role focuses on processing requests for protected health information (PHI) in full compliance with applicable regulations. You will address provider questions about documentation, perform basic chart corrections, and manage scanned medical records to meet quality and productivity standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma with medical terminology, at least 1 year in HIM/medical records, and RHIT/RHIA certification preferred.

Position Details

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; medical terminology.

Experience: 1 year in HIM/medical records department or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Some college preferred.

Experience: 2 years in an acute care medical records department; 1 year experience in Release of Information or Analysis role in an acute care setting.

Certification: RHIT or RHIA

• Possesses strong computer skills, as well as intermediate skills in analysis, problem-solving, and research, with strong attention to detail.
