Job summary

Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Health Educator III for the Department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. You will conduct face-to-face trainings, webinars, and online trainings on recognizing opiate overdose and naloxone administration, and participate in program evaluations.

You will travel across NJ, engage diverse communities, and support educational and research projects within Addiction Psychiatry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health or related field with 2 years of experience.
  • Master's degree with 1 year of related experience.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Position Details

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Health Educator III for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

  • Conduct face-to-face training, webinars and on-line trainings for professionals and the public on recognizing opiate overdose, rescue breathing, and naloxone (i.e., opiate overdose medication) administration.
  • Participate in training and other project evaluations.
  • Contribute to development of distribution plan and distribute naloxone kits to professionals and the public.
  • Seek and respond to training and naloxone distribution opportunities and target communities.
  • Travel to various agencies, organizations, and communities(e.g., criminal justice, drug treatment, healthcare, syringe access, community center settings) throughout NJ; most travel will be in Central and Southern New Jersey.
  • Attend and participate in key state and regional meetings regarding coordination of opiate prevention and treatment efforts in NJ.
  • Provides support for educational and research projects within the Division of Addiction Psychiatry.
Employment Terms

Position Status: Full Time

Working Hours: 37.50 (Standard Hours)

Work Arrangement: Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or discontinuation, and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System.
