Job Summary

The Health Educator/Medical Assistant serves as part of a multi-disciplinary care team supporting clinical services at the Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice, including adult patients at St. Christopher's Hospital's Dorothy Mann Center. This role involves collaborating with providers and staff to deliver reproductive counseling, STI testing and treatment, contraception, pregnancy testing and counseling, and PrEP. It also includes educating patients and staff on intimate partner violence, STI screening, and reproductive health.

Essential Functions
  1. Provide family planning counseling based on current protocols, covering anatomy, sexual methods, pregnancy testing, STI prevention, and health promotion.
  2. Offer culturally sensitive family planning counseling to diverse clients.
  3. Support clients in exploring sexuality and reproductive health concerns, helping them make informed decisions.
  4. Train medical assistants for gynecological exams, STI treatments, and referrals.
  5. Conduct HIV/STI risk assessments and testing, providing counseling and referrals as needed.
  6. Coordinate with the Health Department regarding STI treatment verification.
  7. Implement a tracking system for STI screening results and follow-up.
Clinical Support

Perform clinical tasks including vital signs collection, phlebotomy, diagnostics, administering injections, assisting with procedures, and maintaining quality control.

  1. Gather health history and vital signs, prepare specimens for testing.
  2. Assist with reproductive health exams and procedures.
  3. Administer medications and vaccines, including contraception and STI treatments.
  4. Instruct patients on test preparations, communicate critical values, and handle scheduling and sterilization tasks.
Administrative
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate EMR documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings and monitor correspondence.
  • Manage inventory and collaborate on quality improvement projects.
  • Represent PCCP at community events and report STI treatments to health authorities.
Continuing Competency
  • Stay updated on family planning trends through education and participate in counseling observations.
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3 years of healthcare experience, preferably in reproductive health or HIV/AIDS.
  • 2 years' phlebotomy experience.
  • Basic family planning counseling certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Sensitivity and experience in discussing reproductive health issues, including LGBTQ+ health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Spanish.

  • Sitting, standing, walking as needed.

Additional Information
