Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs NAVAHCS is seeking a Supervisory Health Care Education Specialist to serve as the Designated Learning Officer and supervisor for Health Informatics and Nursing Education within the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System.

The role leads educational strategy, coordinates learning initiatives, and manages budgets while ensuring compliance with federal education and training mandates.

Qualifications

• Time-In-Grade requirements applicable to GS positions per federal rules.
• IOR requires degree in education or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Specialized experience includes managing learning programs and budgets.
• Knowledge of program evaluation, training mandates, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across NAVAHCS education programs and align them with organizational goals.
• Direct educational needs assessment results and coordinate local learning initiatives.
• Develop, design, implement, and evaluate learning programs and courses.
• Manage learning budgets and funding from initiatives or grants.
• Supervise staff of Health Informatics and Nursing Education and related units.
• Oversee workflow balancing, performance standards, and annual reviews.
