Job summary

Swoon is seeking a Health Data & Regulatory Compliance Lead located on the U.S. East Coast (Philly, NYC, Atlanta preferred). In this part-time role (~20 hours/week), you will ensure that products built in the digital health space comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include leading compliance, partnering with teams on system design, and conducting audits. A strong background in healthcare compliance and regulatory affairs is essential.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, or health data governance.
• Strong hands-on experience supporting HIPAA-compliant products.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Security, and Legal teams.

We’re partnering with a leading organization in the digital health space that’s building cutting‑edge, AI‑enabled clinical solutions. They’re looking for a Health Data & Regulatory Compliance Lead to help ensure products are built compliantly while still enabling innovation.

This role sits at the intersection of HIPAA, healthcare data governance, and AI‑driven product development — ideal for someone who can translate regulatory requirements into real‑world product decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead HIPAA Privacy & Security compliance across products handling PHI
• Partner with Product & Engineering to embed compliance into system design and architecture
• Support AI/LLM‑enabled healthcare solutions, advising on PHI usage and data boundaries
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, and compliance reviews
• Guide teams on regulatory requirements (HIPAA, SaMD, etc.) in a practical, business‑friendly way
• Assist with BAAs, customer compliance needs, and documentation

Required Skills

• 8–10+ years in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, or health data governance
• Strong hands‑on experience supporting HIPAA‑compliant products (ideally web‑based/SaaS)
• Experience working cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Security, and Legal teams
• Ability to apply HIPAA in real‑world product environments (not just theory)
• Comfortable operating independently in a fast‑moving environment

Nice to have

• Exposure to AI/ML in healthcare
• Familiarity with SaMD / FDA / MDR frameworks
• Background in cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
