Job summary

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health & Safety Technician in Beaumont, TX, part of the East Texas Hub Safety Team. You will implement health and safety programs, provide IH and H&S services, and partner with facility leadership to meet safety objectives.

You will lead audits, deliver training, investigate incidents, and support MOC activities to ensure compliance and drive continuous safety improvements across Dow's operations at the Beaumont site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required; an associate degree or higher in a relevant field is preferred.
• 3+ years of EH&S experience, or 3+ years of related military experience.
• 3+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, implement, and optimize daily EH&S programs using Dow's EH&S work processes, standards, and procedures.
• Act as the Plant resource for H&S information on procedures, guidelines, and standards.
• Serve as plant contact for IH and Health & Safety issues; be an active member of the EH&S Team.

About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health & Safety Technician for Dow's East Texas Hub (ETH) Safety Team located in Beaumont, TX. The East Texas Hub is made up of Sabine River Operations (SRO) in Orange, TX and the Beaumont site in Beaumont, TX. It is strategically located in the heart of the Dow Gulf Coast sites. As part of these high value sites in the Dow fleet, you will have opportunity to learn and deepen your skills across several different technologies and processes.

You will share in the responsibility for the implementation of the Health & Safety (H&S) management system, to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. As a Health & Safety Technician, you will provide hands‑on industrial hygiene (IH) and health and safety (H&S) services to a wide customer base within the plants.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, implement, and optimize detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs utilizing the EH&S work process, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure that all IH, Health, and Safety aspects of operating discipline are effectively applied to achieve H&S performance goals. In most cases, you may be an owner for the H&S sections of Dow operating discipline system.
• Act as the Plant resource for related H&S information on procedures, guidelines, and standards.
• Serve as plant contact for IH and Health & Safety issues.
• Serve as an active member on facility EH&S Team.
• Coach teams and individuals on H&S related tasks and activities.
• Assist in developing and achieving area or plant H&S goals through collaboration with facility leadership.
• Ensure compliance tasks are completed.
• Perform or coordinate IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.
• Coordinate the audit schedule in the Safety & Health related areas.
• Exhibits strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
• Participate in the Health & Safety related reviews and projects, as required.
• Participate in or lead Root Cause Analysis for H&S events, which could include gathering information, participation in incident investigations as Health & Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) and ensuring follow up actions are completed to prevent re-occurrence.
• Perform Health & Safety Review for Management of Change (MOCs).
• Initiate and support MOC for Health & Safety standards, rules and processes in a timely manner and ensure MOC closure.
• Perform assessments of H&S standards and work processes as assigned.
• Develop and deliver training, as needed, to drive site or facility H&S knowledge.
• Act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others, as required.
• Demonstrate your commitment to a safe work environment by working safely and complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
• Prove your commitment to maintain ethical integrity in both successes and setbacks.
• Provide H&S support for unplanned events, outages, and turnarounds.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and one or more of the following:
  • Associates degree, or higher, in a relevant field.
  • 3 or more years of relevant military experience.
  • 3 or more years of EH&S experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Must be willing to work weekends, overtime and holidays, when required.
