Dow has an exciting opportunity for an EHS&S Improvement Specialist with a preferred location of Freeport, TX. Also open to other major U.S. Dow sites.

As the EHS&S Improvement Specialist, you will serve as a key resource for the EHS&S Technology Center by applying technical and organizational skills to drive the team to continuous improvement. Additionally, this role may work in various facets of the organization - including environmental regulatory, waste characterization, or environmental reporting. The role may also have a significant amount of transactional data support, including with SAP. The role uses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures to help advance the organization forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Applying technical and organizational skills to drive the team to continuous improvement.
  • Leads or participates in continuous improvement activities for the function.
  • Develops and/or implements EH&S management systems to add value to the function, business, or company.
  • Streamlines EH&S work processes by developing/updating operating discipline and associated tools.
  • Possesses technology and continuous improvement skill sets to help establish credibility with the various expertise teams.
  • Support the waste characterization process including use of SAP.
  • May also provide EH&S support to a plant or facilities including supporting permit activities, compliance plans, regulatory assessments, emissions data analysis, and reporting.
  • May also provide interpretations of environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Implements new or updated EH&S programs.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Must meet one or more of the following:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent AND 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced with SAP.
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or related field.
  • Prior Dow experience.
  • Prior Regulatory compliance experience.
