Position Overview

The Manager of Health and Fitness manages a team of fitness staff and oversees the design and implementation of fitness and wellness programs for members. This role is crucial to the success of the Medical Fitness Center by setting operational objectives, developing strategies, and ensuring staff adherence to policies and procedures.

Ideal Candidate Experience
  • Leading a fitness team including group fitness instructors, personal trainers, and fitness specialists
  • Developing programming and leading initiatives in a medical fitness facility serving a large membership base, aimed at engaging members and increasing retention
  • Progressively improving member health outcomes
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coach a team of fitness staff, delegating tasks, evaluating performance, and providing feedback
  • Design and manage fitness programs such as personal training and group exercises aligned with operational goals
  • Develop membership retention strategies, including utilization tracking and fitness assessments, to meet financial targets
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs to enhance member satisfaction
  • Encourage staff to develop seminars, clinics, and incentive-based programs to boost engagement
  • Implement promotional strategies to maximize participation in fitness activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's Degree required

Experience

At least two years of professional experience in a health club, recreation, education, business administration, health education, or physical education setting; background in physiological assessment, exercise prescription, and health promotion (stress management, nutritional awareness, wellness). Preferred: 3 years supervisory experience.

Licensure/Certifications

Personal Training Certification (e.g., ACSM, NASM, AFAA, or other NCCA-accredited) and BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
