Under the direction of the Teacher, you will assist with instructional activities, implement behavioral strategies and IEP goals, and provide personal care to students to help maintain a safe learning environment.

The ideal candidate is patient, organized, adaptable, and able to work with students needing various supports, including sign language or Braille

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 60 college units or paraprofessional certification.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Crisis Intervention Training or ability to obtain within required timeline.
  • ASL skills for deaf or hard of hearing students.
  • Braille skills for blind/visually impaired students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Teacher with instructional objectives, behavioral strategies, and IEP goals.
  • Tutor and support students in academics, daily living, and social skills.
  • Monitor students to promote safety and prevent injuries.
  • Observe and maintain accurate student records per policies.
  • Provide physical assistance and personal care (lifting, toileting, feeding, hygiene).
  • Transport students to activities or appointments when needed.
  • Participate in professional development and trainings.
  • Use behavior-management strategies to support student success.
  • Communicate with teachers, staff, students, and others about student progress.

Job description

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and student-focused Health Aide to support students in their academic, behavioral, social, and daily living needs. Under the direction of the Teacher, the Health Aide assists with instructional activities, implements behavioral strategies and IEP goals, provides personal care support, and helps maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.

The ideal candidate is patient, organized, adaptable, and comfortable working with students who may require individualized academic, behavioral, communication, or personal care assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Health Aide may be responsible for some or all of the following duties, as well as other related responsibilities:

  • Assist the Teacher in implementing instructional objectives, behavioral strategies, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Tutor and support students in a variety of activities, including academic subjects, daily living skills, and social skills, in both individual and group settings.
  • Monitor students while using classroom and other equipment to promote safety and help prevent injuries.
  • Observe, document, and maintain accurate student records and files in accordance with federal, state, and agency policies.
  • Provide physical assistance and personal care to students, which may include lifting, toileting, feeding, and hygiene.
  • Transport students to and from activities or appointments when necessary and authorized.
  • Participate in required professional development, training sessions, and workshops.
  • Use appropriate behavior-management and instructional strategies to support student success.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, students, and other appropriate individuals regarding student needs and progress.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's degree OR completion of 60 units of college coursework OR a valid Paraprofessional certification
  • Current Arizona Driver's License
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Crisis Intervention Training certifications or ability to obtain within required timeline.
  • ASL (American Sign Language) skills if working with students/staff who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Braille skills if working with students who are blind/visually impaired.
