Albright College, a vibrant and growing institution, is seeking a dynamic and visionary full time Head Coach to lead the start-up of its Women’s Wrestling program. This is an exciting opportunity to build a program from the ground up, creating a foundation that will grow into a competitive force within NCAA Division III athletics. The Women’s Wrestling Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of the program, including recruiting student-athletes, creating training plans, and overseeing day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will work creatively within the constraints of existing athletic facilities while helping to explore the possibility of a dedicated wrestling space for both men's and women's wrestling programs in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Establish and develop the Women’s Wrestling program at Albright College. Build a competitive team that can eventually meet NCAA Division III standards in terms of performance and sportsmanship.
- Recruitment: Identify and recruit talented student-athletes to the Women’s Wrestling program. Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan to attract high-caliber athletes to Albright College.
- Training and Coaching: Design and implement effective training programs that emphasize technique, conditioning, and character development. Provide hands-on coaching during practice, competitions, and other team events.
- Team Building: Cultivate a positive and inclusive team culture that fosters student-athlete development both on and off the mat. Encourage leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III standards, as well as institutional policies and regulations related to student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, and scholarships.
- Program Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the women’s wrestling program, including budget management, scheduling, assistant coach professional development and coordination with athletic department staff and administration.
- Community Engagement: Represent the wrestling program within the Albright College community and the broader athletics community, promoting the team, recruiting efforts, and fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proven experience in coaching and/or competing at the collegiate level, preferably in wrestling.
- Strong recruiting experience and ability to build a team and a program from the ground up.
