Job summary

Mount Saint Joseph Academy seeks a Head Swimming & Diving Coach for a part-time role in the Athletic Department. The successful candidate will build confidence and skill, and promote a positive, inclusive environment fostering athletic growth and teamwork.

Interaction with administrators, staff, parents, students, and community members will help elevate the program’s reputation. Responsibilities include on-going athlete development, cross-coaching collaboration, safety and standards maintenance,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with prior collegiate swim experience and/or swim coaching experience.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support student-athlete engagement.

Responsibilities

• Train a team of athletes to optimal physical condition and skill development for swim & dive.
• Teach rules and regulations to athletes to develop high understanding.
• Monitor athlete development and well-being in a safe training environment.
• Collaborate across coaching staff for consistency in training, goals, and strategies.
• Maintain performance standards aligned with Mount Saint Joseph Academy's goals.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, facilities, and training materials.
• Report meet results and any injuries or concerns promptly.
• Foster values of hard work, resilience, teamwork, and discipline.
• Promote a strong team culture reflecting Mount Saint Joseph Academy.
• Communicate proactively with the Athletic Director on goals and policies.

Job description

Mount Saint Joseph Academy is seeking a Head Swimming & Diving Coach for a part-time position in the Athletic Department. The successful candidate will help build players’ confidence and skill, and will exhibit a commitment to a positive and inclusive environment that encourages athletic development, teamwork, and personal growth. She/he will effectively interact with all types of audiences, such as school administrators, colleagues, parents, students, and community members to build our reputation at the highest level.

Role and Responsibilities

• Training a team of athletes on a constant basis for the ideal physical condition for swim & dive by using proven methods to help improve technical skill advancement, holistic training and performance, and game-day execution
• Teaching rules and regulations to help athletes develop a high level of understanding.
• Monitoring athlete development and well-being, and helping to maintain a safe and high-functioning training environment for both individual and team.
• Collaborating across coaching staff to ensure consistency of training, standards, goals, selection, and strategies for the team
• Maintaining standards of performance consistent with the Mount’s goals of personal, academic, and athletic excellence
• Maintaining top quality of team equipment, supplies, facilities, and conditioning materials.
• Report meet results as required.
• Report injuries, incidents, or concerns to the school immediately. Follow all protocols and directions for appropriate communication with affected persons (school administration, parents, emergency personnel, etc.).
• Instilling the values of hard work, determination, resilience, and teamwork
• Reinforcing a strong team culture rooted in the values of the Mount and Mount Athletics program
• Maintaining consistent, proactive communication with the Athletic Director to ensure alignment on program goals, athlete development, team needs, and adherence to departmental policies and expectations.
• The coach will serve as a positive role model and will represent Mount Saint Joseph Academy with distinction while promoting long-term athlete development, performance improvement, and love for the sport.

Schedule

Practices are 5-6 days/week on campus in Flourtown, PA or at Arcadia’s Lenox Pool. The team competes in the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies (AACA) Conference and is a member of PIAA District 1.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with previous collegiate swim experience and/or swim coaching experience. Coaches will need to be CPR/First Aid Certified (or the ability to become certified). Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support peer and student-athlete engagement are necessary.

Compensation

Coaches are paid a seasonal stipend.
