Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking an Assistant Teacher in an Early/Head Start program. You will support the lead teacher in creating an engaging, developmentally appropriate environment that fosters growth across physical, social, emotional, and cognitive domains.

You will help implement developmentally appropriate practices, assist with activities and field trips, maintain child portfolios, and ensure a safe classroom while collaborating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with a CDA credential.
• Experience working with children.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently; able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in creating age-appropriate activities.
• Facilitate classroom activities and field trips in line with best practices.
• Maintain portfolios and conduct developmental observations.
• Ensure a safe, healthy classroom and proper storage of supplies.
• Integrate IEP or IFSP into lesson plans.
• Perform other duties as required.
