Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA) seeks a Head Start Teacher to provide an enriching classroom environment for children aged 0–5, focusing on social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. The role involves implementing curriculum, planning activities, and collaborating with a Family Advocate to support families.

The candidate should have an Associate’s degree in ECE/Child Development, 24 units, and 2 years of teaching with 1 year in supervision.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or related field.
• 24 Early Childhood Education/Child Development units.
• Must meet requirements to obtain Child Development Teacher Permit.
• 2 years of teaching experience and 1 year of supervisor experience.

Responsibilities

• Implements the Head Start/ Early Head Start curriculum in morning and afternoon classes.
• Plan individual and group activities to stimulate learning and involve families.
• Maintain children's records and submit monthly paperwork.
• Observe and assess developmental levels and set goals for each child.
• Provide activities that support parents as primary educators of their children.
