Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Head Start Teacher Supervisor to oversee a single location, ensuring a stimulating, developmentally appropriate environment for children aged 0-5 and achieving social competence goals.

Responsibilities include administering the curriculum, coordinating with teachers and family advocates, and ensuring compliance with licensing and Head Start standards. Requires a BA in ECE/CD, site supervisor permit (or progress), and teaching experience.

Qualifications

• BA in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or closely related field.
• Site Supervisor Child Development Permit (or in progress).
• 24 CD units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development.
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience.
• Preferred: Management coursework.
• Preferred: 1+ year supervisor experience.
• Preferred: 4 years of teaching experience.
• Knowledge of Head Start performance standards.
• Knowledge of Creative curriculum.
• Knowledge of Licensing regulations.
• Familiarity with education / development software applications.
• Bilingual English and Spanish (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Ensure implementation of the Head Start program curriculum and plans for individuals and groups.
• Review end-of-month teacher paperwork for accuracy and timely submission.
• Ensure curriculum plans meet needs of all children, families and staff.
• Integrate Head Start services with parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, disabilities and mental health.
• Oversee the physical environment to meet licensing and safety standards.
• Mentor teaching and support staff on site.
• Support continuity of care at a single location.
• Foster family engagement and parent involvement.
